General Gynaecological Conditions

The clinic offers general gynaecologic health care using evidence-based techniques in diagnosing and treating a variety of gynaecologic conditions. Below are some of the problems we are able to address for you.

Fibroids. Also known as leiomymoma or myoma, these are muscular tumors that grow on the uterine wall. They grow as a single tumor or there can be several of them, and they are almost always benign (non-cancerous).

Are you experiencing heavy bleeding?
Do you feel pain during sex?
Do you have the feeling of fullness in the pelvic area?
Have you noticed an enlargement in your lower abdomen?

Endometriosis. This occurs when there is an abnormal growth of cells (endometrial cells) in a location outside the uterus, particularly on other pelvic organs.

Have you experienced any pelvic pain that worsens during menstruation?
Do you feel cramping or pain during bowel movements or urination?
Do you experience pain after sex?

Ovarian Cysts. These are sac-like structures found within the ovary that are either filled with liquid or a semisolid substance. The presence of these cysts may not cause signs and symptoms, but large cysts are more likely to raise some red flags.

Do you feel pain in the lower back or thighs?
Have you noticed abdominal bloating or swelling?
Do you have pelvic pain before or during the menstrual cycle?

Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS). This occurs when your ovaries and produce more male hormones than normal. This is more common in women who are obese or those who have a family history of the condition.

Do you experience irregular menstrual periods?
Have you experienced any pelvic pain?
Have you noticed excess hair growth on the face, chest, stomach or thighs?
Did you experience significant weight gain?
Are you breaking out more than usual?
Have you noticed patches of thickened skin?

Menstrual Disorders. A normal menstrual cycle period for you may be different from what’s normal for someone else. However, there are some who experience menstrual cycle problems that may have straightforward explanations and treatment options, while others unfortunately encounter overwhelming conditions that require professional care. These include:

Abnormal Uterine Bleeding
Dysmenorrhea (painful menstrual periods)
Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS)
Premenstrual Dysphonic Disorder (PMDD)

Pelvic Pain. This refers to the pain in the region of women’s internal reproductive organs. You need to be mindful if this symptom becomes cumbersome, and emergency care is needed if you experience sharp, sudden pelvic pain that is accompanied by:

Excessive Vaginal Bleeding
Nausea or vomiting
High or persistent fever
Fainting or any other signs of shock

Genital Tract Infections. There are two main types of genital tract infections: sexually transmitted infections and those that aren’t sexually transmitted.
